How do we view AI?
AI has fundamentally changed the software industry, but not entirely for the better. We see rising performance pressure and talented developers quitting because they are reduced to "prompting" or merely reviewing AI-generated pull requests.
Obfona's vision is different. We believe that sensitive infrastructure and backend code must be written exclusively by hand. If you believe otherwise, Obfona is probably not the right place for you.
For frontend development, the choice is yours. If you view AI as a helpful tool to speed up your workflow, feel free to use it. If you prefer writing every line of code manually, we fully respect that. What matters most to us is a beautiful, highly functional end result.
At Obfona, AI will always remain secondary. It is a tool, not a programmer.

How does compensation work?
As Obfona is currently in its early stages and being developed completely independently without external sponsors, all contributions are currently on a voluntary basis. We view this as a passion project driven by a shared vision for privacy and improvement.
If your primary motivation is immediate financial compensation, we might not be the right fit for you right now. Our priority is growing together as a team alongside the project.
However, we believe in fairness. Once Obfona becomes self-sustaining and generates revenue, financial compensation for all core team members will naturally follow. We are building the foundation of something meaningful, and we want you to be part of it.
Requirements
We are currently only searching individuals with a residence in Germany. Language requirements include at least B2 German and fluent English.
