Your privacy is not negotiable.
We built Obfona because we believe communication should be private by default. Here's exactly how we protect you — and what we commit to.
Why it matters
Email is the backbone of modern identity. It's where you verify accounts, receive documents, and communicate privately. Yet the biggest email providers profit from reading your messages to serve you ads.
When a service is free, you are the product. Your data is mined, your behavior tracked, your identity profiled — and sold to the highest bidder.
Obfona is different. We're funded by users who pay for a service — not advertisers who pay for access to you. Our business model aligns with your privacy, not against it.
How we protect your data
You can't read what we can't see
Zero-access encryption means your emails are encrypted before they reach our servers. We physically cannot read your messages.
No IP logging
We don't log IP addresses. Ever. Not even temporarily. Your location and network identity stay private.
Minimal data collection
We collect only what's strictly necessary to run the service. No analytics, no behavioral tracking, no fingerprinting.
Warrant canary
We publish a regular warrant canary. If we are ever legally compelled to compromise user data, we will make this visible.
Open about our policies
Our terms, policies, and technical architecture are written in plain language. No legalese designed to confuse.
Clear suspension policy
We notify you before any account action. No silent suspensions. You'll always know what happened and why.
Our transparency commitments
We publish what we can
Our technical architecture, privacy policies, and legal disclosures are written to inform, not obscure. We update these when things change — not when we're forced to.
We tell you when things go wrong
Service issues, security incidents, or legal pressures — we communicate clearly and promptly. You deserve to know what's happening with the service you rely on.
We fight for you
If a government or entity tries to compel us to compromise user data, we will exhaust every legal avenue before complying. And if we're forced, we'll tell you — as much as the law allows.
We never sell your data
Not now. Not in the future. Not under any business model change. This is a founding principle of Obfona — not a policy that can be quietly updated.
